"In relation to [animals], all people are Nazis, for the animals, it is an eterneal Treblinka." -- Jewish author Isaac Singer

usually i wait for a vegetarian/vegan anniversary to post stuff like this, and i'm a month premature for my 3-year-vegan-extravaganaza, but i couldn't help myself.   been driven to find this stuff on youtube since i watched this 2 hour horrific PETA-esque video, and finally did it.

factory farmed cow slaughter. WATCH IT.   WATCH IT AND THINK OF EXACTLY THIS IMAGE THE NEXT TIME YOU EAT A HAMBURGER, CARNE ASADA, A STEAK.

oh, but that's not all.   it never is. KFC factory farms.   don't think this is limited to KFC alone -- they're just the 'unfortunate' focus of this PARTICULAR expose'.   ALL factory farms are like this.   feel free to poke around youtube to find more chicken slaughter.   it's not hard to find.

and don't even start me on pigs.   they're smarter than dogs.   they have sex for pleasure.   "In fact, pigs are curious and insightful animals thought to have intelligence beyond that of an average 3-year-old human child."   i didn't give the gore and guts video, i thought this one paints their sad picture better.

"okay," you may say, "so i'll stop eating factory farmed animals."   but does that really do the trick?   watch those videos again.   you know that feeling you get, like, "oh my god," and you just want to stop watching?   it's the torture, right?   it hurts to see something go through pain like that.

so even if the animal isn't killed through torturous means, even if they aren't suffering greatly up to their death...   does that in any way, in ANY WAY, justify the idea of raising an animal, a sentient creature that we can so readily empathize with, JUST TO EAT ITS FLESH?   just to eat its flesh to satisfy some carnal craving?   don't EVEN start on the bullshit "oh it's healthier to eat meat, we've been doing it for millions of years."

take carl lewis.   he, for those who don't know, won 9 olympic gold medals, and 8 world championship gold medals.   one of the most prolific, best track and field athletes ever.   at age 30, he gave his best performances.   he attributes it solely to being on a vegan diet.

"eating meat is MOAR HEALTHY!"   bullshit.   if world records can be set on a vegan diet, there is absolutely no leg to stand on, stating that you'll be in some kind of lack if you go vegan.

oh, right, and the vegan thing.   yeah, it's common knowledge to any caring to logically think it through, eating dairy simply supports the veal industry (you don't eat meat, but eat dairy?   cows only give milk when impregnated.   so when cows are continuously impregnated, what do they do with the calves? i'll give you 3 guesses -- you won't need the second two. oh, and when they can't be impregnated any more, into the slaughterhouse they go, too).

but what is much less commonly known, is that the main protein in cheese, casein, actually breaks down into an opiate (like morphine!   and heroin!), that is both a) addictive, and b) makes you suffer from withdrawals, when you stop eating cheese.   and as an ex-cheese lover/fanatic, i, like most of you, can surely attest -- there certainly is something addictive about cheese.   (turns out it's opium!   who knew?)   oh, linky linky.

best excerpt (TL;DR version) :

"And they found them.   Opiates hide inside casein, the main dairy protein.   As casein molecules are digested, they break apart to release tiny opiate molecules, called casomorphins.   One of these compounds has about one-tenth the opiate strength of morphine.   The especially addicting power of cheese may be due to the fact that the process of cheese-making removes water, lactose and whey proteins so that casein is concentrated.   Scientists are now trying to tease out whether these opiate molecules work strictly within the digestive tract or whether they pass into the bloodstream and reach the brain directly."

it's all verified on wikipedia, too.   just look up 'cheese.'

this is too much for a common entry, and short for a rant, but here it is anyway.   also, i'll allow comments.
